Un vejigante. Dos vejigantes. Tal vez tres corriendo hacia ti. L@s chic@s jugaron un juego de “tag” afuera al principio del taller.
L@s niñ@s están en la transición de aplicar los temas que han aprendido sobre el carnaval a ideas creativas para sus productos finales.
El grupo de niñ@s mayores está diseñando una serie de obras cortas en las cuales incorporan los temas relacionados a sus personajes del candombe. Por ejemplo, el grupo de bailarinas presentará un diálogo y el de "tamborileros" presentará otro diálogo aparte. Será divertido oír los "chismes" de los diferentes grupos como personajes del desfile.
El grupo de l@s niñ@s más pequeñ@s completó una hoja de trabajo para repasar el vocabulario del carnaval, palabras como duende, tambor, disfraz y máscara. La hoja se trataba de conectar a una palabra con su imagen correspondiente. Individualmente, l@s chic@s dibujaron y colorearon unos "vejigantes" que diseñaron. L@s niñ@s pegaron sus obras maravillosas en un poster grande con el tema de "Carnavales de Puerto Rico". L@s niñ@s chic@s están combinando sus esfuerzos en la decoración de tri-pliegues en base a los carnavales de diferentes países hispanohablantes.
Después de la merienda, el grupo de l@s niñ@s menores comenzó a aprender las letras de “El Tambor de la Alegría," una canción panameña. Cada niñ@ va a cantar una estrofa basada en su personaje asignado: el sol, la brisa, las nubes, la Madre Naturaleza, o el tambor. ¡Es tiempo de calentar esas voces!
L@s niñ@s mayores continuaron trabajando en sus presentaciones de carnaval en el salón de computadoras.
¡Los vejigantes se ven estupendos!
One “vejigante.” Two “vejigantes.” Maybe even three scurrying after you! The children played a game of blob tag outside at the start of the workshop.
The children are transitioning into the application of themes they’ve learned about carnival to creative ideas for their final products.
The group of older children is designing a series of short skits incorporating the traits and themes relevant to their “candombe” characters. For example, the group of “bailarinas” will present a dialogue and the “tamborileros” will present a separate dialogue. It will be amusing to hear the “chismes” from the different groups of parade characters.
The group of younger children completed a worksheet to review carnival vocabulary, words such as “duende,” “tambor,” “disfraz,” and “máscara". It involved matching a word to its corresponding image. The young ones individually proceeded to draw and water
After the break, the group of younger kids started learning the lyrics of “El Tambor de la Alegría,” a Panamanian song. Each child will be singing a stanza based upon his or her assigned character: the sun, the breeze, the clouds, Mother Nature, or the drum. Time to warm-up those voices!
The older kids continued working on their carnival presentations in the computer lab.
The “vejigantes” are looking great!
