7. El robot que quería ser niño

Este domingo en Círculo Juvenil, nos enfocamos en los robots, algo muy apropiado para CMU. Empezamos con la continuación de la construcción de nuestra máquina. L@s niñ@s y voluntari@s añadieron algunos elementos nuevos a su máquina, y trabajaron especialmente con la idea del vuelo del avión. Fue muy difícil conectar los dominós y el avión, entonces tomamos un descanso de la máquina para jugar el Icebreaker, "Wa!” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eKfB1tWZGg). Después del Wa!, nos sentamos en círculo y vimos el video “El robot frenético”, que cuenta la historia de un robot que está buscando una familia. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioGauu1rVoE). 
 

Inspirad@s por el video corto, l@s niñ@s trabajaron dibujos de robots en sus cuadernos. Mientras dibujaban, un@ de l@s voluntari@s les leía "El robot que quería ser niño", una historia sobre un robot que duda si tiene un corazón o no. (http://www.anecdonet.com/2012/04/09/el-robot-que-quera-ser-nio/). Entonces l@s niñ@s añadieron corazones a sus robots, y por esta vez, todo@s estuvieron list@s para la merienda. 

Después de unos minutos de meriendas sabrosas, fuimos a los computadores para crear robots en Scratch. (https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/210094/). L@s niñ@s lo pasaron bien construyendo sus robots con fondos diferentes y pasos programados. Presentaron sus robots para terminar la tarde, y parecía que el Círculo había teminado por esta vez, pero todavía teníamos una sorpresa final! Un@ de nuestr@s voluntari@s había resuelto el problema del avión en la máquina, y tuvimos  la oportunidad de probarla antes de salir.

In this Sunday’s session we focused on robots, which is very appropriate for CMU. We began with the continuation of the construction of our Rube Goldberg machine. The kids and volunteers added some new elements to the machine and worked specially on the flight of the paper airplane. Then we took a break from the machine to play an icebreaker called “Wa!” After the icebreaker, we sat in a circle and watched the video “El robot frenético” that tells the story of a robot looking for his family. 

Inspired by the short video, the children made some sketches in their robot notebooks. While they were drawing, one of the volunteers read the book El robot que quería ser niño which is about a robot who is not sure if he has a heart or not, so the children decided to add hearts to their robot drawings. After all this robot talk, everyone was ready for snack time. 

After having yummy snacks, we all headed to the computer lab to create robots in the program called Scratch. The kids had a great time making their robots with different backgrounds and actions. After that the kids presented all their robots to each other and the volunteers and we thought that was a great way to end the day, but we had one more surprise! One of the volunteers figured out how to make the paper plane work in the machine so the kids had a chance to see the machine in action before heading home.
