Sexta sesión: Popcorn Maker!

Esta semana, l@s niñ@s trabajaron con una programa que se llama “Popcorn Maker”. Antes de aprender cómo usar Popcorn Maker, jugaron charadas. Para l@s que no estaban familiarizad@s con el juego, Juan demostró cómo jugar con la frase “dos tortugas.” ¡Los niños se divirtieron mucho!

Luego aprendieron cómo utilizar Popcorn Maker para crear un proyecto con imágenes, audio y video. Cuando estaban cómod@s con las funciones del programa, tod@s contribuyeron a un proyecto nuevo. Este proyecto tenía un video de un perro, música de Pingüinos de Madagascar, y un GIF de un personaje animado en un disfraz de conejo. ¡Los niños estaban muy emocionados, y querían ir al cuarto de computadora, pero era la hora de la merienda!

Después de terminar de comer, salimos para jugar el mismo juego que jugamos la semana pasada. En cada ronda, un/a niñ@ fue seleccionad@ para ser ratón, y otro/a para ser gato – esencialmente jugar a pillarse. Luego, fuimos dentro a hacer proyectos interesantes. Un proyecto usó un video de un joven quien viste como Harry Potter, un GIF de una tortuga columpiándose en un bar, y tres imágenes de lagartos. Otro creó un proyecto con cuatro GIFs de Minecraft, en los que los personajes bailaban. También puso un GIF de Mario Kart y un poco de música. Él trató de hacer que todos los GIFs cupieran en la misma página al mismo tiempo, y ¡terminó con un video de 11 minutos! Tod@s  querían compartir sus obras, pero no tuvimos bastante tiempo.

Es maravilloso ver su motivación y las ganas de compartir su conocimiento.

This week the kids worked with a program called “Popcorn Maker.” Before learning how to use Popcorn Maker, the kids played some charades.For the ones who weren’t familiar with the game, Juan demonstrated by acting out the phrase “two turtles.” 

The kids had lots of fun playing charades and then they watched a short presentation on how to use Popcorn Maker to create a project with images, audio and video. When they were comfortable with the program functions, they worked together to create a new project. This video had clips of a dog playing with a turtle, music from the Penguins of Madagascar soundtrack, and a GIF of a cartoon character in a bunny outfit. The kids were so excited! They wanted to go to the computer lab and start their own projects, but it was time for snacks. 

After a small snack, we all went outside to play “El ratón y el gato,” the same game from last week. Each round, someone different was chosen to be the cat and the mouse. After that we went back inside to work on these interesting videos. One of the projects included a video of a boy dressed like Harry Potter, a GIF of a turtle swinging on a bar and three images of alligators. Another one was composed of some Minecraft and Mario Kart GIFs and a little bit of music. He tried to make all the GIFs change in the same page at the same time and ended up with a video eleven minutes long! Everyone wanted to share their work, but unfortunately we ran out of time. Maybe next time! 

It's great to see the kids so motivated to share what they are learning!
