L@s chic@s del taller de otoño hacen un mural con el tema de "Comunidad"

Durante la primera sesión del taller, hicimos una serie de actividades para conocernos y empezar a trabajar en comunidad. Con ayuda de actividades y juegos supimos un poco de nosotr@s (e.g., edad, números de hermanos, lugares de nacimiento, idiomas que se hablan en casa, deportes favoritos, etc.) y también colaboramos para conocer nuestra comunidad mencionando lugares donde se puede encontrar comida, música, bailes del mundo latino/hispano, al igual que lugares en los que podemos hablar en español al practicar un deporte, ir al médico, o estar con amig@s. 
Después de la merienda jugamos un juego de relevos en equipos, hicimos una búsqueda del tesoro para saber un poco más sobre los jugadores de los Piratas de Pittsburgh que vienen de países hispanohablantes, y terminamos pintando colectivamente un mural con elementos que nos gustan de nuestra comunidad.
Al final de la sesión repartimos un libro que esperamos puedan leer con sus hijos durante la semana. Trata sobre el compartir con amigos, el deporte y la salud temas que trataremos durante este taller. Fue divertido, y nos encantó volver a ver a l@s chic@s y conocer algunas caras nuevas! Esperamos verles de nuevo el domingo para jugar un poco al fútbol!No olviden traer zapatos de goma y si tienen canilleras y una pelota de fútbol (opcional).

The scavenger hunt helped us learn more about Hispanic/Latino players in the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In our first workshop session we had a number of different activities to get to know each other and to start working as a community. With the aid of games and activities we learned about who we are (e.g., age, number of siblings, places of birth, languages spoken at home, favorite sports, etc.), and also collaborated to get to know our community better by mentioning places where we can find food, music, and dances of the Hispanic world, as well as places in which we can speak Spanish when we practice a sport, go to the doctor, or play with friends. After eating a snack we played relay races, had a scavenger hunt to know more about the Spanish-speaking players in the Pittsburgh Pirates, and ended up collectively working on a mural with elements that we like about our community. At the end of the session families received a booklet we hope parents can read with their children during the week. It is a story that deals with sharing with friends, sports, and health, all themes we will be working on during this workshop.
It was lots of fun, and we loved being able to see the kids again and to get to know some new faces! We hope to see everyone again on Sunday to play some soccer! Don't forget to bring tennis shoes and if yiou have them, shin guards and a soccer ball (optional).
