And we continue celebrating soccer! For this session, we started with a lot of energy to shake the cold that's hit us this November. We dedicated the first hour to listening, learning, and doing our own commentated accounts to a soccer game. First, we watched a video of a game between Argentina and Paraguay and we listened closely to what the commentators said (even though they spoke really quickly). The children discussed the importance of having the running commentary and what aspect of it they liked the most- the "GOOOOOOOL"! They divided into groups and each group did their own commentated account of an invented soccer match. The kids then presented their work in front of the group. While they did this activity, the older participants of the group documented the session and edited the photos and videos that they have already taken throughout the workshop, continuing their hard work documenting the progress of each session.
During the snack, we learned about soccer in Uruguay in a presentation done by one of the families. Team "Celeste" was the only team from the Americas to make it to the quarterfinals in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
In the second half of the day, those that could stand the cold went outside to play soccer. "Los Soles" played against "Las Estrellas" in a friendly match (accompanied by the cheers of those that did not want to play) to finish off the day.
See you next Sunday!
