In this session we finished making our shirts and applying the names, numbers, and final details. All of the shirts turned out great and certainly did not lack a strong expression of color.
We learned about Brazil and its history of soccer while we ate a snack. Brazil will be the host country of the next World Cup in 2014 and the next Olympics in 2016 so they are working hard to develop infrastructure and construct many stadiums so as to be able to withstand the influx of people that will attend the special events. We also learned about the mascot of the 2014 World Cup: Tatu-Bola. This year the mascot will take the form of an armadillo, an endangered animal species in Brazil, to raise awareness about the danger that it faces. (To share a secret that will only be revealed on the final presentation day, the families have been working on creating a mascot for the Círculo team based on the image of Tatu-bola.)
In the second half of the session, we went outside to learn a few new soccer techniques, play some games, and expend a little energy. Last week we didn't have a session due to the Thanksgiving holidays, so we'll be seeing you in December!
