¡Bienvenid@s!

El equipo de chic@s y asistentes de "Los Arcoiris"

¡Empezamos el taller del otoño Loc@s por el Fútbol! Este otoño, l@s niñ@s del Círculo Juvenil van a aprender sobre el fútbol en Latinoamérica, hablar de sus equipos y jugador@s favoritos, apreciar la cultura futbolera y ¡mucho más! En esta primera sesión iniciamos con un jueguito de nombres. Después de conocernos un poco, empezamos a hablar del fútbol. L@s niñ@s compartieron lo que ya sabían del fútbol: las reglas, las posiciones, las tarjetas amarillas y rojas...¿que significan? Discutimos las palabras diferentes en español para decirle al equipo: ¿"canilleras" o "espinilleras"? Cuando ya nos pusimos de acuerdo, vimos un breve video animado que representaba el equipo de Argentina en un partido emocionante contra "el resto del mundo". Después de observar bien los detalles del video, l@s niñ@s comentaron sobre lo que habían visto. Fue una buena manera para empezar a ver las partes diversas de un partido de fútbol y la variedad de gente que participa en la cultura futbolera. Observaron con entusiasmo:
         -la barra/los fanáticos/los aficionados y sus cantos
         -el árbitro
         -el comentarista
         -los jugadores
         -¡y un jugador hizo una "chilena" para meter un gol!

Para seguir demostrando la cultura del fútbol y cómo ha cambiado, las maestras del taller hicieron una representación de sus diferentes experiencias con el fútbol como niñas. Maite explicó que sus padres no le permitían jugar porque el fútbol era un deporte "sólo para hombres". Pero ella no les hacía caso y salía escondida de su casa para jugar. Ava demostró un contraste de cómo va cambiando esta imagen del fútbol. Ellas enfatizaron que el fútbol es un deporte y los deportes son para todos- ¡los chicos y las chicas!

Después de la merienda, siguieron con una actividad en grupos en que presentaron y actuaron una breve historia basada en lo que habían aprendido del fútbol. El grupo que no logró escribir una historia tuvo un castigo: ¡bailar la "Waka Waka" de Shakira! Al final, tod@s l@s niñ@s y asistentes se animaron a bailar juntos.

Siguiendo con esta energía, tod@s fueron afuera para unos juegos con la pelota. Corrieron en un juego de "Cola de tigre" para calentar y terminaron en un partido divertido y amistoso entre "Los arcoíris" y "Los soles brillantes".

And so we begin the Fall workshop, Loc@s por el Fútbol! This Fall, the children at Círculo Juvenil are going to learn about soccer in Latin America, talk about their favorite teams and players, appreciate soccer culture, and much more! In our first session, we started with a short name game. After getting to know each other a little, we began to talk about soccer. The kids shared what they already knew about the game: the rules, the positions, the yellow cards and red cards...what do they mean? We discussed the different Spanish words for some of the soccer equipment: "canilleras" or "espinilleras" to say "shinguards"? When we had sorted it all out, we watched a short animated video about the Argentinian team versus "the rest of the world". After observing closely the details of the video, the children commented on what they had seen. It was a good way to start to see the many parts of a soccer game and the variety of people that participate in the soccer culture. They enthusiastically observed:
        -the fans and their chants
        -the referee
        -the commentator
        -the players
        -a player that did a "bicycle kick" to score a goal!

To continue demonstrating the soccer culture and how it is changing, the teachers of the workshop, put on a short performance of their different experiences with soccer as young girls. Maite explained how her parents wouldn't let her play because it was a sport "only for men". But she didn't listen to them and secretly left her house to go play. Ava presented a contrast of how this image of soccer is changing. They emphasized that soccer is a sport and sports are for everyone- girls and boys!

After snack time, we continued with a group activity in which each group presented and acted out a short story about soccer based on what they had learned. The group that didn't manage to write anything down received a punishment: dance the "Waka Waka" by Shakira! By the end, all the kids and volunteers joined in the fun.

Continuing with this energy, the group moved outside for some games with the ball. They ran a bit to get warmed up in a game of "Tiger tails" and finished off with a fun and friendly game between "The Rainbows" and "The Shining Suns".
