Tercera Sesion

La tercera sesión inició con un juego de adivinanza relacionado con vocabulario de la canción “El portal de Belén”. L@s voluntari@s les dieron pistas a l@s chic@s para que adivinaran las palabras. A continuación hicimos un círculo y empezamos a practicar las canciones. Repasamos la diferencia entre piano (suave) y forte (fuerte). También la diferencia entre allegro (rápido) y lento. Hicieron esto marchando lenta, rápida, fuerte, o suavemente con relación al tiempo y el volumen del piano. Luego, practicamos la letra de la canción “A la nanita nana”, pero esta vez en pequeños grupos con ayuda de l@s voluntari@s.  Cada grupo se turnó para cantar la canción al resto. Después de cantar, colorearon creativamente dibujos de camellos y ovejas, palabras incluidas en el vocabulario de “El portal de Belén,” mientras escuchaban música.

       Cuando l@s voluntari@s finalmente lograron separar a l@s chic@s de sus dibujos, se dirigieron a comer su merienda. Al regresar al salón, empezamos un juego enfocado en enseñarles vocabulario de “El portal de Belén”. A cada niñ@ se le asignó una palabra como “el sol”, “los pastores”, y “oveja” (sheep). Cada vez que escuchaban su palabra, l@s chic@s debían cambiar de lugar con otr@ que también fuera mencionad@ en el estribillo. Por ejemplo, si la letra decía “Pastores venid pastores llegad, a adorar al niño que nacido ya”, l@s chic@s asignad@s a “pastores” debían cambiar con el que tenía la palabra “niño”. Para terminar la sesión, empezaron a preparar la canción "Ocho Kandelikas", de Januká, fiesta que también conlleva tradiciones formales y más populares. Con relación a esta canción, escucharon una versión en hip-hop y practicaron la letra mezclando tonalidades suaves y fuertes, y con ritmos lentos y alegres.

Our third session of Círculo began with a guessing game, involving vocabulary from the song “El portal de Belen.” The volunteers gave the students clues about what their word was until they could guess it correctly. Then we formed a circle and began our music practice. The students reviewed the difference between piano (soft) and forte (loud). They also reviewed the difference between allegro (fast) and lento (slow). They did this by marching slowly, quickly, loudly, and/or softly in relation to the tempo and volume of the piano that was being played. Next, the children practiced singing “A La nanita nana” again, but this time in small groups. Each group then took turns singing the song to the rest of the class. After singing, the students enjoyed coloring in pictures of sheep and camels, which are included in the vocabulary of “El portal de Belen,” while listening to music.

       When the volunteers were finally able to separate the students from their coloring, everyone enjoyed snack time. This time the students were able to choose between applesauce, grapes, cookies, and crackers. Returning to the classroom, we began a game with the kids that focused on teaching them the vocabulary from “El portal de Belen.” Each kid was given a word, like “el sol” (the sun), “los pastores” (the shepherds), and “oveja” (sheep). Each time the kids heard their word in the song, they would run to switch places with another student who had another word that was said in the lyric. For example, if the lyric was “Pastores venid pastores llegad, para adorar el niño que nacido ya” (Shepherds come, shepherds come, to adore the boy who was already born”), then a kid with the word “pastores” would switch places with a kid with the word “niño” (boy). To finish the session, the volunteers helped teach the students a new hip hop song called “Ocho Kandelikas,” which is about the celebration of Hanukkah.
