En esta sesión comenzamos jugando a "Escaleras y culebras". Cuando llegaron más chic@s hicimos un rompe hielo con "el teléfono descompuesto" usando palabras de los carnavales de los que hemos hablado para refrescar un poco la memoria (por ejemplo: vejigante, marimonda, mamá vieja, Rey Momo, etc.).
Luego en grupos l@s niñ@s trabajaron con los voluntarios para hacer un afiche para cada uno de los países que vamos a representar el último día. Un grupo preparó un afiche sobre el carnaval en Colombia y otro sobre el carnaval en Uruguay. Utilizando dibujos, recortes y otros adornos diseñaron afiches que tenían lo que eligieron como elementos más importantes de cada celebración. Mientras tanto algunos de los chicos pintaron las máscaras que habían comenzado la sesión pasada. Luego, durante la merienda escuchamos una presentación sobre el carnaval en Chile. Aprendimos sobre la fiesta de la Tirana en el norte de Chile.
En la segunda hora, algun@s practicaron canciones con el corito mientras otr@s fueron al laboratorio a continuar sus proyectos de programación de juegos de computadora. Fue como siempre una sesión informativa y divertida.

This week’s workshop began with a game of “Snakes and Ladders.” As more children arrived, we continued with another game of “broken telephone,” in which we would use vocabulary words pertaining to carnivals we have talked about in the past as a refresher for the children (for example, vejigante, marimonda, mamá vieja, Rey Momo, etc.).
Then, in groups, the kids worked with volunteers to make a poster for each of the countries we have learned about to present on the last day of the workshop. One group prepared a poster on the Carnival in Colombia, while another created one on the Carnival in Uruguay. Using drawings, clippings, and other ornaments, the kids designed posters with what they had chosen as the most important aspects of elements of each celebration. Meanwhile, some of the other children continued to paint the masks that they had started the past session. Later, during the provided snack, the children listened to a presentation on the Carnival in Chile. Specifically, they learned about the festival of Tirana, located in the North of Chile. In the second hour, some of the children practiced songs with Corito, while others went to the computer lab to continue their computer programming projects. As always, it was a fun and informative workshop.
