Se terminó el taller del otoño de 2012 con un lindo evento el domingo pasado. Para esta última despedida del taller de fútbol, llegaron l@s niñ@s y sus padres para celebrar todo que hemos hecho y creado durante estas 10 semanas.

L@s niñ@s presentaron su obra de títeres en la cual mostraron sus muñecos bonitos, saludaron a la audiencia, hicieron su porra del equipo Círculo Juvenil de Cultura, y bailaron la Waka Waka- todo con las camisetas que hicieron puestas. ¡Terminamos la obra con todos l@s niñ@s, padres, voluntari@s, y maestr@s bailando junt@s!

Después disfrutamos unas presentaciones muy bien hechas e informativas de l@s niñ@s más grandes del grupo. Presentaron fotos con comentarios y una serie de videos cortos con entrevistas incluidas para demostrar a sus padres cómo han documentado el proceso de todo el taller.

Cada niño recibió su medalla de participación en el taller y agradecimos a tod@s las familias, asistentes, y maestras que han colaborado para hacer posible el taller de fútbol este año.

Para terminar el evento, compartimos una merienda y los que querían, fueron afuera para jugar un partido entre l@s niñ@s y los padres. Antes de que viniera la lluvia, los dos equipos iban metiendo muchos goles y disfrutando el fútbol y su capacidad de darnos una alegría compartida.

The Fall 2012 workshop ended this past Sunday with a wonderful family event. For the "good-bye" session, the children came with their parents to celebrate all that we have done and created in these past 10 weeks.

The children presented their puppet show in which they showed off their beautiful puppets, introduced themselves to the audience, did their own Círculo Juvenil de Cultura team cheer, and danced the Waka Waka- all with their own hand-made shirts on.  We finished the show with all the kids, parents, volunteers, and teachers dancing together!

Afterwards we enjoyed a few very well-done and informative presentations from the oldest kids of the group. They presented a collection of photos with commentary and a series of short videos with interviews included to demonstrate to the parents how they have documented the events of the workshop.

Every child received a medal of participation in the workshop and we gave thanks to all the families, assistants, and teachers that have collaborated to make this year's soccer workshop possible.

To end the event, we shared a bite to eat and those who wanted to went outside for a Kids vs. Parents soccer game. Before the rain chased us off, the two teams scored a bunch of goals and fully enjoyed the game and its ability to give us a shared joy.

La versión CJDC del Tatú Bola, la mascota del mundial Brasil 2014. Creada gracias al talento artístico de Kathy Gensure con la colaboración de chic@s, familias, y voluntari@s

Este domingo fue la penúltima sesión del taller del otoño- ¡que rápido se ha ido el tiempo! Usamos el día para hacer las últimas preparaciones para la sesión final del domingo que viene en que l@s niños presentarán todo lo que han hecho a las familias que han apoyado el taller. Cada niñ@ hizo un póster que incluía todas sus creaciones de las semanas pasadas, fotos de sus equipos de fútbol y sus caras pintadas, y unos comentarios cortos sobre las actividades diferentes que han realizado. También cada niñ@ escribió un par de frases que explicaba lo que les gustaba más del taller. La idea es que l@s niñ@s expondrán sus pósteres y sus breves relatos enfrente de las familias en la última sesión.

Después de disfrutar la merienda durante la cual vimos unos videos divertidos de fútbol, dedicamos un buen tiempo a ensayar la obra de títeres. L@s niñ@s también presentarán la obra para los padres la semana que viene, mientras que l@s chic@s más grandes presentarán el producto de su documentación  del proceso.

This Sunday was the second to last session of the Fall workshop- how fast the time has gone! We used the day to finish up preparations for the last session next Sunday. Next week the children will present everything that they have done to all the families that have supported the workshop this Fall. Each child made a poster that included all of their creations from these past few weeks, photos of their soccer teams and their painted faces, and a few comments about the various activities they have completed. Every child also wrote a few short phrases explaining their favorite moments of the workshop thus far. The idea is that the kids will present their posters and short narration in front of the families on the last day.

After enjoying a well-earned snack during which we watched a few fun soccer videos, we dedicated a good amount of time to practice the puppet show. The children will also present this show for the parents next week, while the group of older participants will present their documentation of the whole process.
