Juegos, juguetes y videojuegos!

¡El taller Juegos, Juguetes, y Videojuegos está por comenzar!
Cada domingo, desde el 19 de Septiembre hasta el 21 de noviembre, 3-5pm
¡ven y juega con nosotr@s!

Con este taller se busca utilizar el juego como herramienta para explorar el idioma y la cultura. L@s niñ@s/jóvenes, de 6 -12 años, no solamente tendrán la oportunidad de aprender y disfrutar de una variedad de juegos y videojuegos, sino también participarán en inventar y construir sus propios juegos.

El objetivo será, como en los talleres anteriores, de apoyar, reforzar y estimular el interés por el idioma y la cultura entre niños y jóvenes bilingües de la comunidad hispana/latina en Pittsburgh y sus alrededores. Con la colaboración activa de los padres y las madres, exploraremos juegos de las múltiples culturas de las cuales venimos. Cada familia aportará su ayuda durante una sesión: su conocimiento especial sobre algún tema (de su escogencia).

Las sesiones toman lugar en las instalaciones del Departamento de Lenguas Modernas de Carnegie Mellon University. El costo del taller completo (10 sesiones de 2 horas cada una) es de $100. Hay un número limitado de becas disponibles y posibilidades de obtener descuentos por necesidad económica y por número de herman@s inscritos.

El Círculo Juvenil de Cultura,

Our  Fall 2010 workshop on “Games, Toys and Videogames”
is all set to begin!

When? It will take place every Sunday at 3-5pm starting September 19th , and until November 21st.

This workshop will seek to use the rich and endless universe of games as
a tool to explore and develop language and culture for young Spanish speakers
ages 6-12.

Registered children will not only have the opportunity to learn and enjoy participating in a
variety of games and video games, but they will also create and develop their own games in
small teams organized by age, interests, and skills.  

As in past workshops, our objectives will include to support, strengthen and stimulate interest in language and
culture among young bilingual speakers belonging to the Hispanic / Latino community in Pittsburgh and its
surrounding areas.  With the active collaboration of teachers, student assistants, and parents, we will explore
the multiple sets of cultures that we come from.  Each family will be asked to provide assistance during a
session by sharing special, traditional, or familiar knowledge on a topic of your choice.

Two-hour sessions take place in the premises of the Department of Modern Languages at Carnegie Mellon
University. The full cost of the workshop (10 sessions of 2 hours each) is $ 100.  There are a limited number of
scholarships available and opportunities for discounted tuition for brother/s sister/s of registered participants
and for need-merit students.
