Mil gracias a todas las personas que nos apoyaron durante las diez semanas de los talleres con su ánimo, tiempo, servicio voluntario y comida. Gracias en primer lugar a los niños y niñas y sus familias por creer y participar en nuestros proyectos. Gracias especiales a las maestras por su paciente trabajo, a los y las estudiantes que trabajaron como voluntarios por su dedicación y por ayudarnos domingo a domingo con su tiempo y con su talento y habilidades. Gracias finalmente al Departamento de Lenguas Modernas de CMU, y a su directora, quien nos ha apoyado desde el principio con esta idea. Con su respaldo nos ha sido posible semestre a semestre brindarle becas a niños y niñas que de otra forma no habrían podido participar de nuestros talleres. Igualmente al dedicado grupo de profesores y profesoras por el trabajo voluntario de coordinación, organización y logística para los talleres. Gracias a la colaboración y apoyo de todos ustedes pudimos no sólo seguir reforzando nuestro objetivo de ayudar a que niños y niñas de Pittsburgh no pierdan y por el contrario desarrollen su conexión con la lengua y las tradiciones de la cultura hispana/latina, sino además seguir estrechando los lazos entre los miembros de nuestra pequeña comunidad.
Estaremos en contacto de nuevo en enero para brindarles detalles de nuestro próximo taller, que iniciará en febrero, y para el que apreciaremos nuevamente su ayuda y su apoyo.Felices fiestas y hasta pronto!

On Sunday December 4, the children in our fall workshops presented to their families and friends a sample of work done this semester. The group of younger children (4 to 8 years) began the presentation with a "cultural mosaic", sharing information and details about the symbols and traditions of Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. They also read the poems and showed the masks they made, shared a couple of songs and even danced zumba! The group of the older kids presented a video about the geography, history and people of Peru and Puerto Rico that they developed over the past weeks, and concluded with the presentation of a choreography for the song "Creo en America" by Diego Torres, official song of the Copa América held in Argentina this year.
Many thanks to everyone who supported us during the ten weeks of the workshops with your enthusiasm, time, volunteer service and food. Thanks primarily to children and their families to believe and participate in our projects. Special thanks to teachers for their patient work, and to the students who worked as volunteers for their dedication and for helping every Sunday with their time and their talents and abilities. Thanks finally to the Department of Modern Languages at CMU, and its director, who has supported us from the beginning with this idea. With this support we are able to offer semester to semester scholarships to children who otherwise could not have participated in our workshops. Likewise to the dedicated group of professors and teachers for their volunteer work coordinating the organization and logistics for the workshops. Thanks to the collaboration and support of all of you we could further our goal of helping children in Pittsburgh not to lose and instead develop their connection with the language and traditions of the Hispanic / Latino culture, and also continue strengthening ties between the members of our small community.We will be in touch again in January to provide details of our next workshop, which will begin in February, and we will again appreciate all the help and support.
