Radio dramas

El domingo 11 l@s chic@s crearon su propio espacio de radioteatro infantil. Escribieron un guión corto sobre una historia en la que diferentes personajes recrearon la acción. Estuvieron a cargo de representar con su voz estos personajes de manera teatral. Cuando fue necesario, también crearon efectos de sonido con la voz para hacer la historia más real. La actividad se hizo en pequeños grupos y cada asistente ayudó con la creación del guión y la preparación de la grabación. Pusieron énfasis en la claridad fonética y en la caracterización de los personajes cambiando tonos de voz.

Algunos ejemplos tomados de Internet que se usaron como modelos pueden escucharse aquí. Pronto estarán disponibles en el blog los ejemplos creados por l@s chic@s. Recuerden que el Circulo Juvenil también está en Facebook y en Twitter, para quienes frecuentan estas redes sociales.

3er mini proyecto

Presentación: Domingo 18 de octubre

Traer una noticia en español de un acontecimiento nacional (de Estados Unidos) y narrarla en la clase.

La noticia puede ser tomada de un periódico o noticiero y ojalá que su contenido sea algo que le interese a la chica o el chico (puede ser una noticia relacionada con deportes, música, entretenimiento, o también con las ciencias, el espacio, los animales, etc.). Los padres les ayudarán a narrarla en sus propias palabras, escribirla y prepararla para presentar el domingo. La maestra propuso como ejemplo este formato a seguir:

On Sunday 10/11, the children created their own mini-radio dramas. They wrote a short script of a story in which different characters recreated the action. The kids were in charge of representing these characters with their voices. When necessary, they also created sound effects with his voice to make the story more real. The activity was done in small groups and each assistant helped with the creation of the script and the preparation of the recording. We emphasized the phonetics and the characterization, changing tones of voice. Some examples from the Internet that were used as models can be heard here. Check the blog for examples created by the children, available soon.

3rd mini project Presentation:

Sunday 18th October

Bring a piece of national news (from the U.S.) and tell the class about it. The news can be taken from a newspaper or news program and hopefully the content is something that interests the girl or boy (maybe news related to sports, music, entertainment, or even to science, space, animals , etc.). Parents will help the child narrate in her/his own words, writing it down, and preparing to present it to his friends on Sunday. The teacher suggested as an example to follow this format:

En la sesión del 4 de octubre, l@s chic@s:

-hicieron un excelente trabajo compartiendo con sus compañer@s la canción que trajeron preparada
-charlaron sobre cantautores latinoamericanos y sus influencias, estilos, y procedencia de algunos de ellos
-crearon una canción en parejas o individualmente y la ensayaron con los ayudantes.

Luego, en el Laboratorio grabaron sus canciones.

Mini-proyecto 2: para la próxima semana, l@s chic@s deberán:
-Ver una película o corto en español y con la ayuda de los padres hacer una reseña corta. Describir tema, de dónde es, qué te gustó y qué no te gustó. ¡Prepararse para compartir su reseña con l@s compañer@s y con la audiencia en sintonía!

Radiociclón sale con todo!

Radiociclón, el taller de radio joven, inició con gran alegría y entusaisamo este pasado 27 de septiembre . Luego de una breve presentación en la que niños, maestras y ayudantes se presentaron, charlaron un poco sobre lo que conocían de la radio:

¿Cómo nació?

¿Cuál es su uso/propósito?

¿Cuál es su relevancia actual?

Luego, los chicos crearon una mini entrevista de presentación entre ellos con lan ayuda de los asistentes y se prepararon para grabarla en nuestro Laboratorio, donde conocieron el software y hardware que van a estar utilizando para hacer y revisar pequeñas grabaciones.

Para la semana entrante, cada un@ va a traer una canción en español (grabación cantada por el artista) y aprendérsela para presentarla a los demás imaginando que están haciéndolo para la radio. Hablarán brevemente sobre el contenido, artista, procedencia y estilo; ¿de qué se trata? ¿quién la interpreta? ¿de qué país viene? ¿qué tipo de ritmo utiliza? ¿porqué te gusta/qué es lo que más te gusta de la canción?

Cómo llegar a Porter Hall A20

Hay estacionamiento gratis en el garaje principal de la universidad—East Campus Garage, en la intersección de Forbes Avenue y Beeler Street.

Cuando llegue al edificio de estacionamiento llamado Parking Garage o a la parada del bus en la intersección de Morewood Avenue y Forbes, atraviese el campus hacia el sur, en dirección de Frew Street.

Al llegar a Baker Hall (el último edifico antes de llegar a Frew Street), entre y doble a la derecha.

Baje el pasillo hasta el final de Porter Hall (los dos edificios están conectados). Cuando llegue al final, baje por las escaleras hasta el nivel A del edificio. Si camina hacia su derecha, se encontrará con el salón antes de llegar a la salida del edificio que da al interior del campus.

Si viene por Frew Street

Porter Hall es adyacente a Flagstaff Hill, parte de Schenley Park. La entrada a Porter Hall al nivel de la calle se llama el nivel A. Al entrar el edificio y atravesarlo en direccion al interior del campus, se encontrara con el salón.

Porter Hall is adjacent to Flagstaff Hill, part of Schenley Park. The ground entrance to Porter Hall is the A level. If you walk into the building and continue straight ahead, you will find the room as you approach the interior exit. Click here for directions through Google. 

Directions from East Campus Garage:

Upon exit of garage, travel away from Forbes Avenue and towards the center of campus. The large building to your left is the University Center. Walk around to the back side of the University Center (away from Forbes Avenue). The large grassy area between the University Center and Purnell Center is called 'The Cut'. There are many sidewalks around and through 'The Cut'. Walking on the sidewalk diagonally across 'The Cut' is your best option to arrive at Porter Hall. The diagonal sidewalk from the University Center will lead you to the front entrance of Doherty Hall. On your left, you will note the painted 'fence' and the campus clock. Pass Doherty Hall and continue on the sidewalk that leads straight in front of you. You will note the 'Mall', another grassy area that extends from the College of Fine Arts (building to your left) to Hamerschlag Hall (to your right), which is topped by the iconographic cupula. This sidewalk will lead you to a large building on the right, which is divided into two campus halls, Baker Hall and Porter Hall. Porter Hall is on the lower end towards Hamerschlag Hall. The sidewalk will lead you to the entrance of Baker Hall, which is on your right. On the left is Hunt Library. Upon entering Baker Hall, walk towards the hallway ramp in front of you and walk straight down to the end until you enter Porter Hall on the 100 level. The A level is located at the bottom of the stairs. Stairs and an elevator connect with rooms in the 200 and 300 levels.

When? Every Sunday Sept. 27-Dec. 6, 2-4 pm (except Thanksgiving Weekend). Space is limited. Please register by Sept. 21.

Why? Children in the Pittsburgh area have little to no exposure to heritage language media content created specifically by and for others like them, resulting in a lack of opportunities required to develop and strengthen their bilingual and bicultural skills, and to create a sense of community which will empower them through the development of healthy social, educational, and psychological individualities. Furthermore, they have even fewer opportunities available to create this type of content. Our project seeks to bridge that gap on two levels: on the one hand, it will give a group of Hispanic heritage children ages 6 to 12 the opportunity to become dexterous in the use of media technology, and to use these skills to create and produce high quality material that is relevant to them and apt for broadcast and publication in radio, digital newspapers, blogs, and video- and audio-podcasts; on the other hand, it will give large numbers of Hispanic, Latin@ and Chican@ children the chance to become the audience for this material, and to communicate and interact with those who created it through phone calls, letters, and responses posted on electronic media. Through these 10-week workshops held at Carnegie Mellon University, mini-traveling workshops held in selected Hispanic nodal points in the city, activities in conjunction with a college-level course on Hispanic radio taught at CMU, and partnerships with existing media broadcasting organizations made in and for the Hispanic community in the Greater Pittsburgh area, we seek to make this project a reality. We look forward to working with you in providing these opportunities for the Spanish-speaking children in our region.

Detalles sobre los talleres de radio

RADIOCICLÓN: RADIO HECHA POR JÓVENES PARA JÓVENES

El Taller de radio infantil Radiociclón está diseñado para niños y niñas de 6 a 12 años. Son diez sesiones en las que aprenderán la realización radiofónica a través de sesiones teóricas y prácticas. Trabajarán en grupos de 2-3 niñ@s de acuerdo a sus edades y conocimientos bajo la dirección de un/a maestr@ y con la asesoría de asistentes voluntari@s que son estudiantes de la universidad. Trabajarán en todo el proceso de preproducción, producción y realización del material, desde la creación de la idea, hasta la elaboración de un producto radiofónico digital completo que puede incluir entrevistas, información, comentarios, segmentos musicales, contactos con la comunidad y elementos de la tradición hispana. Al finalizar el TALLER, los integrantes se llevarán un disco compacto con los trabajos realizados. Además se abrirá un espacio en Internet que funcionará como Podcast o Radiodifusora, es decir, como espacio de difusión para los trabajos generados en los Talleres. El programa de radio hispana Barrio Latino seleccionará algunos de los trabajos para inclusión en su espacio “El Rincón infantil” que se emite entre 6 y 7 pm los jueves a tavés de WRCT.

Con estos talleres se busca brindar a los niños y niñas jóvenes hispanohablantes la oportunidad de tener acceso a, y adquirir competencia en, manejo de medios y tecnologías de la información y la comunicación, habilidades que pueden ser útiles para la vida personal y profesional. Al mismo tiempo que avanzan en el aprendizaje y la alfabetización tecnológica, creando producción escrita, visual y auditiva mediante el uso de herramientas informáticas, estarán compartiendo y creando lazos con otr@s jóvenes hispanohablantes y con sus familias, y siguiendo los modelos de éxito proporcionados por sus asistentes y maestr@s.

Los talleres tendrán lugar todos los domingos de 2 a 4 pm a partir del 27 de septiembre de 2009 en los salones PH A22 y PH A21 en Carnegie Mellon University. También utilizaremos los equipos y recursos del Laboratorio de Recursos del Departamento de Lenguas Modernas.
